Since 1981, Joe DeReuil has assisted in or has been Structural Engineer of Record for projects totaling over 13 million square feet. His experience covers a wide variety of major building types including office buildings, churches, schools, condominiums, hotels, stadiums, museums, military facilities, aircraft hangars, water treatment facilities, custom residences, and bridges.
Joe DeReuil graduated from Georgia Tech in 1981 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, including a year at the L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Upon graduation, he worked in Atlanta as a structural engineer for Heery International for five years. He then worked for Nielsen/Uzun Structural Engineers as a consulting structural engineer for various Atlanta architects including Thompson Ventulett Stainback, Smallwood Reynolds Stewart and Stewart, and Cooper-Carry.
Joe moved from Atlanta to Pensacola in 1993 to head the Structural Department at Baskerville-Donovan. In 1998 he joined Samuel Johnson Inc. and worked with Sam until his restructuring at the end of 2002.
Joey McMath joined JDA in April of 2003 as a structural engineer in training. Joey grew up in Flomaton, Alabama and is a graduate of Auburn University. He was previously employed as a structural engineer for two and one-half years in Birmingham, Alabama. Joey is married to Misty (Rowell) and lives in Milton. Misty and Joey are happy to now be closer to "home." Joey enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with family...as well as designing all types of structures.
Matthew Milner joined JDA in March of 2004 as an E.I.T and received his Professional Engineering license in 2009. He currently holds licenses in Florida and Alabama. Matthew is originally from Albertville, AL and graduated from Auburn University in December 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. While at Auburn, Matthew interned for three years with Southern Company's Engineering and Construction Services in Birmingham, AL and worked part-time on research projects for Auburn's Civil Engineering Department.
Matthew has designed numerous military projects on bases from Arizona to Ohio to the Caribbean and many places in between. His other projects include schools, office buildings and multi-family residential buildings in northwest Florida and lower Alabama. Designs include everything from foundations for pre-engineered metal buildings and specialty hangar door retrofit systems to multi-story steel frame office buildings and multi-story cast concrete condominiums.
Josh Greenwell joined JDA in August of 2008 as a structural engineer in training and received his Professional Engineering license in 2014. He is a Pensacola local and grew up in the town of Molino, FL. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Josh was previously employed as a carpenter and has several years of hands-on construction experience. In his spare time Josh enjoys hunting, fishing, sports, and spending time with family & friends.
Ian MacBeth E.I. joined JDA in June of 2014 as a structural engineer in training. Ian grew up Pensacola, FL, and spent his last 2 summers as an Intern here at JDA. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Construction Engineering with a minor in Architectural Engineering. While at the University of Alabama, Ian worked part-time on research projects for the Civil Engineering Department. In his spare time Ian enjoys spending time with his family & friends
Brad Bowman joined JDA in June of 2006 as a structural engineer in training. He obtained his Professional Engineering License in 2010 and currently holds licenses in Florida, Alabama and Ohio. Brad grew up in Gallipolis, Ohio and is an Honors 2006 graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering. He has had numerous engineering internships during college including LJB Engineering, General Electric Aircraft Engines, and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Brad also spent a summer at Washington University in St. Louis researching and studying Structural Health Monitoring using static techniques. Brad is married to Brittany (Wilcoxon) and lives in Pensacola. They enjoy their time together trying to stay active as much as possible and being involved in their local church. As for work, Brad enjoys learning and taking on new structural challenges to put his knowledge and intuition to the test.
Kelly Morris, P.E. joined JDA as a consultant in August of 2007. Originally from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida she received her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1990. After graduating, she worked for 1 year as a Geotechnical Engineer for Southern Earth Sciences in Mobile, Alabama. Kelly moved to Pensacola in 1991 and began her career as a Structural Engineer with Baskerville-Donovan where she worked under the guidance of Joe DeReuil. In 2000, she joined James J. Mallet, P.E., P.A. With Jim Mallet as the lead structural engineer, she continued to develop her skills being involved in the design of many military, educational and commercial buildings. Kelly received her Building Contractors License in March of 2012.
Jacob Sumrall joined JDA as an E.I.T. in February of 2015. Jacob graduated with Honors from Florida State University College of Engineering in May of 2015. Prior to JDA, Jacob worked for Universal Engineering Sciences for nearly a year where he received geotechnical engineering experience. Jacob also worked for FSU where he researched and produced activated carbon and biochar. Jacob is fluent in Spanish having served a two year mission trip in Southern Chile. Jacob is married to Lora and lives in the Pace area. They enjoy time together with their family and being involved with their local church. Jacob enjoys learning new things, studying and taking on new challenges.
David Brewer joined JDA in December of 2015 as a Special Inspector’s authorized representative. David and his wife Jackie moved to the Pensacola area in 2013. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. David has been a professional engineer since 2004, and currently holds P.E. licenses in both Florida and Texas. After graduation from Texas A&M University, David went to work with HAKCO Precast, Inc. doing detailing and design work. David continued to work there for 15 years, eventually managing all drafting and engineering for their architectural and structural precast plants, until the company closed in January 2011. Since then, David has worked with engineering consultants CEG in San Antonio, TX and PTAC here in Pensacola, FL. In his spare time, David enjoys boating, fishing, going to the beach, and just hanging around with friends.
Scott Shumpert, E.I. joined JDA in June of 2016 as a structural engineer in training (E.I.). Scott graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He also holds degrees in Business Administration from Auburn University and Engineering Technology / Construction from the University of West Florida. Scott is a licensed Certified General Contractor and licensed Home Inspector for the State of Florida. Prior to JDA, Scott served for six years in the United States Navy as a Naval Flight Officer. He worked for several years in the commercial construction and inspection industries. He began his career as a structural engineer with the honor of working for the late Horace E. Shumpert, Consulting Engineer for five years and worked for other Pensacola engineering firms for the next several years. Scott grew up in Pensacola and is married to Rachel. They enjoy their precious time together and keeping up with their large family.
Vickie McLemore joined JDA upon its inception in January of 2003 as the Office Manager/Bookkeeper. She has over 35 years of work experience, 27 of which have been with engineering firms. She has previously worked for The US Army Corps of Engineers in Frankfurt, Germany, Baskerville-Donovan Engineers, Johnson/Creekmore/Fabre Engineers, Fabre Engineering, and Samuel Johnson, Inc. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking, antique collecting, and boating. She is also interested in natural medicine including herbs. She and her husband Rick, have three sons.
Sara Hubmann, JDA’s Business and Marketing Coordinator, joined our team in February 2006. Sara received her Associates Degree from Pensacola Junior College and in 2002 graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies. After college she was happy to move back to her hometown of Pensacola to be closer to family, friends and the beach. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Roger and her son, Max.
Administrative Assistant, Kim Howell, joined JDA in April of 2016. Kim has been in the office administrative field for the past thirty-seven years. Originally from Kansas City, MO, she attended high school and technical school in Minnesota and started her secretarial career in North Dakota. She and her family relocated to Pensacola in 1984. Kim has previously worked with Baskerville-Donovan, T.Byron Smith Architects and most recently as office manager with Pensacola Tower Service. Kim and her husband Keith, live in historic downtown Pensacola. She enjoys bike riding to the many festivals, Blue Wahoos baseball games and of course our beautiful white sandy beaches. They have one daughter, Dana’e, who lives on the island of Maui, Hawai’i with her husband Aaron.
